In September I made a decision to change my life and move to North Carolina and partner with like-minded individuals and in a co-op of women entrepreneurs. I thought this would be a great opportunity to learn about being in business while experiencing unique support from other women “creating their own business”.
My discovery was quite surprising! I found that it is difficult for people to communicate clearly and directly with each other. The multiple ways that people communicate now such as, text, email, social media, while using various communication platforms simply leads to over stimulation. Over stimulation leads to people shutting down. The community I had envisioned did not exist because the women simply had nothing to give or the ability to receive secondary to overstimulation.
This malfunction with communication and overstimulation is a microcosm of the macrocosm. The culture created over the past four years of “canceling” or “not responding” is a reflection of the psychological conditioning that has occurred in our society. There is also a deeper underlying conditioning among women in and from the south which I describe as “southern toxic”. This pattern of behavior is that women do not verbalize what that really mean. Rather they speak “not to offend” often saying one thing and intending the opposite. I functioned as an intentional disruptor with this pattern among the women in the co-op. You can imagine how I was received!
In my humble opinion this form of communication and ongoing overstimulation is a recipe for dysfunction, disruption, drama and separation. I learned that this is not the environment that me or my healing partner Scruffy could thrive.
The business lessons learned are many while here in North Carolina. This time gave me the opportunity to really experience my intention for “my business” and to gain further insight into how I best accomplish my purpose and mission with grace and ease.
I updated my purpose and mission statement. It now is this. To BE the lighthouse that illuminates people’s path to their inner knowingness of SELF-love, care, forgiveness and healing alchemy.
This is a perfect time of year for reflection. Through this adventure over the past three months, I became more truly aligned with my values of being impeccable with my word and deed, staying aligned with individuals that are powerfully creating their own reality and who actually “see me” and love me. I also learned to ask deeper questions, hold space for listening to people’s trauma with patience, and to know my only function here is to practice forgiveness. I am softening my voice so the message of change can be received by individuals and business entities that seek my unique services.
I am going home to Florida and to the sanctuary and community I created there. I return with a new perspective and so much gratitude. My heart spills over in felt gratitude!
The greatest acquisition is the relationships created with five very incredible people here in North Carolina. So much love to Barbara, Samantha, Josh, Nathalie, and Colleen! Thank you for seeing me!
